Veteran coach Claude Le Roy has stressed Morocco is capable of achieving great things in football despite missing out on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title.

Senegal defeated Morocco 1-0 in Rabat to win the Africa Cup of Nations for the second time in its history, amid controversial events that saw the Taranga Lions temporarily withdraw in protest against the awarding of a penalty kick which was later missed by Ibrahim Diaz.

Speaking on the Egyptian ON Time Sports channel, the former Ghana coach acknowledged the Atlas Lions quality, stressing the team can achieve great things.

“Morocco has a great team and is capable of achieving great things, and the tactical change by including Sofyan Amrabat and Nael El Aynaoui was very important.”

“Ultimately, Morocco still needs to clearly establish a striker position, a player capable of scoring decisive and impactful goals, because the team needs higher attacking quality in this particular position.

The 77-year-old manager has previously led several national teams on the continent, including Cameroon, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Congo, and Togo, achieving numerous accomplishments that have left a mark on the history of African football.
