Gerald Alders: Dutch right-back linked with move to Telstar in Eredivisie transfer push

Gerald Alders has completed a loan move from Ajax U21 to SC Telstar, joining the Eerste Divisie side from the Amsterdam club in a confirmed deal classified as a loan transfer. The 20-year-old right-back, who holds both Netherlands and Namibia nationality, moves with an official transfer start date of 2026-02-03 and is scheduled to return to Ajax U21 when the loan expires on 2026-06-30.

The switch keeps Alders within Dutch football but changes his competitive environment. While Ajax U21 compete in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, Telstar’s registration is associated with the Eredivisie framework in the current transfer data, underlining that Alders’ pathway remains aligned with the top tiers of the Dutch game rather than any move to clubs in his other home country, Namibia. The transfer is listed as a straightforward loan, with no permanent fee indicated, though his current market value is recorded at €700k.

Alders arrives at Telstar with a clear contractual timeline: Ajax retain his rights beyond the end of this loan spell, but the end-of-loan date raises the possibility that, depending on Ajax’s decisions afterward, his medium-term future could open up, including the theoretical prospect of becoming a free agent if no subsequent agreement is reached. For now, however, he is firmly tied to Ajax as his parent club, with Telstar benefiting from his services for the duration of this temporary move.

The defender’s career to date has been entirely within the Ajax system and Dutch domestic structure. Born in Amsterdam on 07 May 2005, Alders progressed through Ajax Amsterdam Youth before stepping up to Ajax Amsterdam U17 in 2021, then Ajax U18 in early 2023, and Ajax U21 from mid-2024. A brief loan to FC Twente in early 2025 gave him experience in another Dutch environment before he returned to Ajax U21 later that year.

His market value has risen steadily over the last two years, reflecting his development. Valued at €150k at Ajax U18 at the start of 2024, he climbed to €200k by mid-2024 and €275k after his first steps with Ajax U21. A further update in late 2025 doubled that figure to €700k, underlining how highly the right-back is now regarded in the talent pipeline.

Alders is listed primarily as a defender at right-back, with a right-footed profile and a height of 1.79m, giving Telstar a modern full-back option in wide areas. His experience so far has been concentrated in youth and second-tier Dutch competitions, but this loan gives him a chance to consolidate senior minutes in a competitive professional league under a different set of coaches and tactical demands.

Having already experienced movement between Ajax’s youth levels, Ajax U21, and a previous loan at Twente, Alders is now at a pivotal phase. If he impresses at Telstar during this spell, he strengthens his case for a return to Ajax U21 with an enhanced role or for a longer-term future in the upper levels of the Dutch pyramid. With his dual-nationality background and rising valuation, a successful loan could also place him on the radar of clubs beyond the Netherlands in the longer term, shaping the next stage of his career trajectory once his current loan concludes on 2026-06-30.
