Hamburger SV have confirmed that they will retain French-Comorian defender Warmed Omari beyond the current season, officially exercising their option to make the 25-year-old’s loan move from Stade Rennes permanent.
Reports suggest the transfer fee is around €2.2 million, though the club has yet to disclose the length of the new contract.
Omari initially joined Hamburg on loan last summer and quickly became a key figure under the previous head coach. His progress, however, was interrupted by a ligament injury that sidelined him for several months. He made a notable return last weekend, coming off the bench in HSV’s 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich.
Board member Eric Huwer expressed satisfaction with the permanent signing, highlighting Omari’s potential and professionalism.
“Despite his long injury layoff, Warmed has demonstrated his qualities in his appearances. He has made positive progress in this short time, which we want to further promote together in the coming years,” he said.
The permanent acquisition underscores HSV’s commitment to building a strong defensive foundation around the talented Comorian international.
