Ghana defender Jonas Adjetey has sealed a move to German Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg, completing the transfer on winter deadline day.
The centre-back has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at the Volkswagen Arena until 2030, in a deal believed to be worth around €10 million.
Wolfsburg sporting director Pirmin Schwegler praised the defender’s profile and experience, describing Adjetey as a player well suited to the club’s defensive needs.
“Jonas is physically strong, quick and dominant in duels. He brings exactly the qualities we need in our defence,” Schwegler said. “Over the past three and a half years at FC Basel, he proved himself both in the league and on the international stage. We have high expectations for Jonas and are convinced he will immediately strengthen our team.”
Adjetey arrives from Swiss side FC Basel, where he made 15 appearances in the current campaign and established himself as a key figure in defence.
The move also comes at an important time for the 25-year-old, who has featured for Ghana in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. He will be eager to secure regular playing time in Germany as he pushes for a place in the Black Stars squad ahead of the World Cup, scheduled to be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
