The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has turned down the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) appeal to strip off Senegal of its 2025 African Cup of Nations title.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the continental football governing body (CAF) disclosed that its Appeals Committee found no grounds to overturn the result of the final, reaffirming Senegal as the AFCON 2025 champions.
The North African football powerhouse had lodged a formal complaint following the chaotic final, held at the Prince Moulay Stadium on January 18, 2026, citing refereeing errors leading to Senegal walk-off from the pitch for 17 minutes during a contentious penalty review.
However, after reviewing match reports, video footage, and submissions from all parties involved, CAF upheld the original decision, declaring Senegal as the champions of the recently concluded AFCON.
“The CAF Disciplinary Board rejected the protest lodged by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) regarding alleged violations by the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) of Articles 82 and 84 of the Regulations of the Africa Cup of Nations, relating to the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final” a statement from CAF reads.
With the matter now closed, Senegal remain the undisputed AFCON 2025 champions, while Morocco will turn their attention to upcoming international competitions as they seek redemption on the continental stage.
Having officially being declared losers of the final, the North African football giants guest of ending their 50-years AFCON drought has dashed.
