Barcelona include Morocco stop in final phase of pre-season preparations

Barcelona have finalised plans for a pre-season friendly in Morocco as the Spanish champions continue preparations for the 2026-27 campaign.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the Catalan club will play a friendly match in the northern Moroccan city of Tangier on August 15, with the identity of their opponents yet to be confirmed.

The report states that Barcelona have decided to face a Moroccan club, taking advantage of the fact that the domestic league will not begin until October.

Part of busy pre-season schedule

The Morocco fixture will be Barcelona’s penultimate warm-up match before they host Egyptian champions Al Ahly in the traditional Joan Gamper Trophy at the Spotify Camp Nou on August 19.

Barcelona are currently in England for a pre-season training camp, where they are scheduled to face Birmingham City on July 31 and Preston North End on August 3.

Preparations continue across Europe

Following their stay in England, Hansi Flick’s side will travel to Italy on August 8 to take part in a three-team tournament in Udine.

There, Barcelona will meet Premier League side Nottingham Forest and Italian club Udinese before travelling to Morocco for their Tangier fixture.

The match is expected to provide another valuable test before Barcelona conclude their pre-season preparations against Al Ahly ahead of the start of the new campaign.
