François Régis Mughe could be set to leave Marseille this winter, with Cypriot side AEL Limassol opening discussions over a possible move for the Cameroonian striker
The 21-year-old has not featured for Marseille’s first team since the beginning of the season and is currently seeking a new opportunity to restart his career.
Negotiations have reportedly begun between AEL Limassol and the player’s representatives, as the Cypriot club looks to strengthen its attacking options.
Mughe remains under contract with Marseille but has found himself outside the plans of the club’s head coach.
After a proposed loan move to Belgium failed to materialise, the forward has continued his season with Marseille’s reserve side, limiting his exposure at senior level.
The lack of first-team involvement has prompted discussions over a possible departure during the winter transfer window.
Despite his current situation, Mughe is still regarded as a player with significant potential.
At 21, the Cameroonian international is considered to have time on his side, and a move abroad could offer him the regular playing time he has been missing in recent months.
His market value is estimated at €200,000 by Transfermarkt, and Marseille are reportedly open to allowing him to leave in order to facilitate his return to competitive action.
A move to Cyprus would also see Mughe reunited with a familiar face.
AEL Limassol already count Stéphane Keller among their squad, a former teammate of Mughe with Cameroon’s under-23 side.
That connection could help ease his adaptation should the transfer be completed.
For Mughe, the prospect of joining AEL Limassol represents a potential fresh start after an extended period away from the spotlight.
The coming days are expected to be decisive as negotiations continue, with both clubs assessing whether an agreement can be reached.
