Pyramids FC coach Kunoslav Jurcic has warned of a tough challenge ahead as his side prepares to face Renaissance Berkane in the CAF Champions League.
The Egyptian club travels to Morocco to meet Berkane at the Municipal Stadium on Saturday, a fixture Jurcic described as one of the most demanding in their group.
“Playing against Renaissance Berkane will be extremely difficult,” Jurcic said at a press conference. “They are a strong team with great potential, and they will be playing at home in front of their supporters. Both teams are competing for the top spot in the group, so the match will be intense. Regardless of the circumstances, Pyramids always plays to win.”
Jurcic revealed that Pyramids have prepared extensively, including a training camp in the UAE. The team also welcomed back several international players following the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Despite some absences, especially international left-back Mohamed Hamdi, the team is fully prepared,” he added. “We came to Berkane to secure the three points, maintain our lead in the group, and take a major step toward qualifying for the quarter-finals.”
The coach also highlighted the familiarity between the two sides, noting their recent meeting in the African Super Cup.
“We played Berkane months ago in the African Super Cup, and it was a tough match, although we won the title,” Jurcic said. “Both teams know each other well, which will make the match even more challenging.”
Jurcic also pointed to the nature of the stadium as a factor that could intensify the contest.
“The municipal stadium in Berkane is narrow, so the game will be very exciting,” he said. “There will be limited space, and both teams will need great physical strength.”
He concluded by expressing confidence in his squad’s ability to deliver.
“I trust my players and the group I coach,” Jurcic said. “They always meet my expectations, and our aim is to maintain the club’s position at the top of African competitions.”
