Spanish La Liga side Valencia have identified Al Ahly midfielder Aliou Dieng as a top transfer target in the ongoing winter window.
Al Ahly have reportedly received a formal approach from Valencia for the Mali international, with the Spanish club shifting focus to Dieng after ruling out a move for Aston Villa midfielder Guido Rodríguez, barring any late and unexpected developments.
Sources indicate that both Dieng and Al Ahly are open to completing the transfer, provided Valencia meet the club’s financial demands.
However, the Egyptian giants are currently reluctant to sanction the midfielder’s departure in January, despite him having just six months remaining on his contract.
Dieng, for his part, is keen on making the switch to Spain and has asked Al Ahly to accept Valencia’s offer.
The midfielder is understood to have no intention of extending his stay at the club, adding further tension to negotiations as the transfer window progresses.
