Moroccan actress and dancer Nora Fatehi has sharply criticised the Senegal national team’s conduct in the AFCON 2025 final against Morocco, played on 19 January at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Fatehi attended the match to support the Atlas Lions and condemned what she described as “chaos” caused by Senegal’s temporary walk-off in protest at a refereeing decision.
In a post on her official Instagram account, she denounced the reaction of the Senegalese players after Morocco were awarded a penalty in the 90+8 minute. She branded their response as “one of the most unethical, disappointing and evil behaviours!”, making clear her disapproval of how they attempted to pressure the officials.
Fatehi contrasted that behaviour with what she sees as Morocco’s composure and dignity on the big stage. She stressed that “Morocco always maintains class, prestige and exemplary conduct, no matter the circumstances!”, turning her message into a broader defence of Moroccan values and sporting spirit.
Despite the painful defeat, the star took time to praise the organisation of the tournament and the country’s infrastructure. She wrote that she salutes “the progress, elevation and hospitality” shown by Morocco and its people, adding that the experience proved the kingdom is advancing rapidly and will remain at the forefront of African nations.
Fatehi also highlighted the depth of Moroccan fans’ passion, saying that for them football is “more than just a game”.
She closed her message with a heartfelt tribute to the national coach and players, thanking them for their dignity and pride and declaring that they made Moroccans proud, before signing off with a rousing “Dima Maghrib!”.
