Stade Brestois bring in former Juventus midfielder Joseph Nonge from Kocaelispor

Stade Brestois have completed the signing of Belgium Under-21 midfielder Joseph Nonge from Turkish club Kocaelispor, with the transfer estimated to be worth about €600,000.

The 21-year-old has agreed a three-year contract with the French club, keeping him at Stade Brestois until June 2029. The deal also includes an option to extend the agreement by a further season.

Nonge becomes the fourth arrival of the summer for Stade Brestois as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.

The midfielder was developed in the academy system at Juventus before later spending time with Troyes. He subsequently moved to Kocaelispor, where his performances led to a return to France with Stade Brestois.

Regarded as a box-to-box midfielder, Nonge is expected to add energy and versatility to the centre of the pitch. His style is built around contributing across the field, with Stade Brestois placing their confidence in his potential by committing to a long-term agreement.

Nonge has represented Belgium at Under-21 level four times. He is of Congolese origin, from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and joins Stade Brestois with the aim of taking the next step in his development in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.

His move represents the latest stage in a career that began at Juventus before taking him through Troyes and Kocaelispor. Stade Brestois believe his experience at different clubs, combined with his age and international background, can strengthen their midfield options.

Nonge is currently valued at €2m by Transfermarkt, a figure higher than the reported fee involved in his move from Kocaelispor. He will now look to justify the expectations surrounding him after joining the Breton club.

The signing forms part of Stade Brestois’ wider work in the summer transfer window as they continue assembling their squad for the coming campaign. With Nonge now added to the group, the club have made four signings this summer and are continuing to prepare for the new season.
