Douglas Owusu completes €2.2m move from Red Star to Hapoel Tel Aviv

Ghanaian-Serbian winger Douglas Owusu has joined Hapoel Tel Aviv from Red Star in a €2.2m transfer, becoming the latest player to switch from Serbia’s top flight to Israel’s Ligat ha’Al.

Owusu, 20, has signed a contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv running until 30 June 2030. The left-footed right winger completed the move on 5 August 2026 after leaving Red Star, where he had been part of a team that won the Serbian league and cup during the 2025-26 season.

The Cape Coast-born player is 1.65m tall and operates primarily on the right side of attack. His dual Ghanaian and Serbian nationality reflects his background, while his move takes him into a new domestic competition with Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Owusu’s honours with Red Star represent the most successful period of his senior career so far. He won the Serbian championship and Serbian Cup in the 2025-26 campaign, having previously helped FK Radnik Surdulica win the Serbian Second League in 2024-25.

The transfer fee of €2.2m places the winger below his listed market value of €4.5m. Hapoel Tel Aviv have committed to a long-term agreement with the player, who joins the club after Red Star’s domestic double-winning season.

Owusu had not made a league or Champions League qualifying appearance for Red Star in the 2026-27 campaign before completing the move. He now begins his Hapoel Tel Aviv contract as the club’s latest attacking addition, with the agreement lasting through the end of June 2030.
