Spanish La Liga side Villarreal CF have entered the race to sign Ghanaian forward Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, intensifying competition for one of the Championship’s standout performers.
The exciting winger has been a key figure for Leicester City this season, registering five goals and seven assists in 26 appearances for the former Premier League champions as they push for promotion.
Premier League clubs Sunderland and AFC Bournemouth have already expressed interest in the former Sporting CP attacker, with Villarreal now emerging as the latest club keen on securing his services.
The Yellow Submarine reportedly believe Fatawu fits their recruitment profile, citing his pace, technical ability and constant attacking threat as qualities that could strengthen their wide options.
Reports indicate Villarreal are prepared to table a bid in the region of €30 million for the 20-year-old, who is under contract until 2029. Sunderland are also said to be willing to match that valuation, underlining the growing demand for the Ghana international.
A fee of that magnitude would be significant for a Championship player, but sources suggest it aligns with Leicester’s long-term ambitions and the high regard in which Fatawu is held.
Meanwhile, Fatawu is expected to earn a call-up to the Black Stars squad for Ghana’s international friendly against Germany scheduled for March later this year.
