Birmingham City have secured winger Ibrahim Osman on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion until the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, marking the 21-year-old Ghanaian’s first foray into English football.
Brighton cut short Osman’s loan spell at French side Auxerre, where he featured in 14 Ligue 1 matches and provided two assists, to facilitate the move to the Championship club.
Osman, a £16million Brighton signing 18 months ago, has yet to break into the first team, spending his time on loan with Feyenoord and Auxerre.
The winger enjoyed a more productive period in the Netherlands last season, scoring three goals and registering three assists in 22 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord, alongside seven Champions League outings.
His arrival adds depth and competition on the flanks for Birmingham, particularly alongside regular starters Demarai Gray and Patrick Roberts, following the collapse of a move for Abdoulie Manneh last week.
Osman, primarily a right-footed attacker capable of playing on either wing, becomes Birmingham’s third loan signing from Brighton this season, after James Beadle and Eiran Cashin—who has since moved to Blackburn Rovers.
The deal also marks the club’s third addition of the January window, with Kai Wagner and Jhon Solis already having joined in recent weeks.
The Blues’ management view Osman as a versatile option to bolster attacking options and provide fresh impetus for the second half of the season as they aim to strengthen their Championship campaign.
