Al-Ahli complete signing of Burundi winger Jean Claude Girumugisha from Al-Hilal
Burundi winger Jean Claude Girumugisha has joined Al-Ahli from Al-Hilal, completing a move to the Libyan Premier League club on 18 August 2026.
The 21-year-old plays as a right winger and is known for favouring his right foot. Born in Bujumbura, Girumugisha stands 1.73m tall and now begins the next stage of his career with Al-Ahli after three years at Al-Hilal.
Girumugisha joined Al-Hilal from Mag. Young Boys on 28 September 2023. His latest switch represents his second recorded club move since leaving that side, with Al-Hilal serving as his previous club before the transfer to Al-Ahli.
He has made 27 appearances in the CAF Champions League, scoring five goals and providing two assists. His record in the competition includes 1,984 minutes on the pitch, with a goal scored once every 397 minutes.
The winger also has one Player of the Year award to his name. That individual honour adds to a playing record that includes experience at continental level, with Girumugisha now taking that experience into Al-Ahli’s squad.
His arrival gives the Libyan Premier League club a young Burundi international-level player for the wide attacking role, although the available career record identifies his position specifically as right winger rather than a wider range of attacking positions.
Girumugisha’s move was registered on 18 August, the same date on which he joined Al-Ahli. No contract end date has been stated, and the transfer has been completed without a publicly specified fee.
Al-Ahli have therefore secured the services of Girumugisha from Al-Hilal, with the Burundi winger now a player of the Libyan club.
