Morocco defender Mohamed Chibi says his outfit ultimate goal is to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title as the team gears up for the blockbuster final.
In a high-stake clash on Sunday evening at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, the Atlas Lions will take on Senegal in the final of the continental showpiece, with victory crucial to securing the title.
The North Africa football powerhouse are chasing their second AFCON title just as Senegal, who last won the trophy in 2021 in Cameroon.
Ahead of the match, Chibi, who plies his trade for Egyptian outfit Pyramids has declared his outfit readiness, while setting sights on the trophy.
“We are preparing for the final like all matches, and we have one goal and we will enter the match to achieve it. God willing, we will win the title and make the Moroccan people happy.”
“My feeling is very different from what I felt with Pyramids, especially since you represent your country and this tournament is different from the African Champions League.”
“Our goal is to win the title and keep the cup in Morocco to make the people happy.”
Meanwhile, Chibi has downplayed tension heading into the game, stressing his outfit intend to finish Senegal as early as possible.
“Tension is a necessary thing, especially since the tournament is being held in our country, and we hope to finish the Senegal match early.”
“Any player who participates will do his duty. We don’t care who plays as a starter, and everyone who plays in the match will give his all to achieve victory.”
Top Congolese referee Jean-Jacques Ndala has been appointed to handle the high-stake clash tonight.
