Amine Gouiri remains a potential Tottenham target under Roberto De Zerbi

Tottenham Hotspur could revisit their interest in Olympique de Marseille striker Amine Gouiri if changes to their attacking options create an opportunity to sign the Algeria international in a future transfer window.

According to French newspaper La Provence, Gouiri was among Tottenham’s targets during the summer transfer window, with manager Roberto De Zerbi keen to reunite with the forward he had previously coached at Marseille.

De Zerbi, who worked with Gouiri for a year at the French club, was reportedly interested in bringing the striker to London to strengthen his attacking options. However, the proposed move depended on Tottenham first allowing one of their two strikers, Dominic Solanke or Richarlison, to leave the club.

Neither player departed during the summer, leaving Tottenham with both forwards in their squad and preventing the potential deal from progressing.

As a result, the interest did not lead to a formal approach to Marseille, and Gouiri remained with the Ligue 1 side beyond the transfer deadline.

Tottenham interest could return

Although no formal approach has been made for the upcoming transfer windows, Tottenham could consider the Marseille forward again if circumstances change.

Gouiri’s versatility is one of the qualities that could make him an attractive option for De Zerbi. The Algerian international can drop deeper to link play and operate in different positions across the attacking line, offering flexibility in the final third.

His ability to perform several attacking roles could suit the tactical demands of the Tottenham manager, who is familiar with the player from their time together at Marseille.

However, any renewed interest could depend on what happens to Solanke and Richarlison. If either forward leaves during the winter transfer window or next summer, Tottenham could reconsider a move for Gouiri as they look to reshape their attacking options.

For now, the situation remains a possibility rather than an advanced transfer negotiation, with no formal approach reported.

Marseille could demand €25m to €30m

Any attempt to sign Gouiri would also require Tottenham to negotiate with Marseille, where the striker is under contract until 2029.

That long-term agreement could make a transfer difficult to complete, particularly if the French club is unwilling to let the player leave without an acceptable offer.

The reported cost of a potential deal is between €25m and €30m, meaning Tottenham would need to consider the financial demands alongside their plans for the forward positions.

Gouiri’s future could therefore become a subject of renewed interest if Tottenham make changes to their attacking department. However, a move to the Premier League remains uncertain, with no formal negotiations reported so far.
