Emmanuel Adebayor congratulates Harry Kane on Ballon d’Or triumph

Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Emmanuel Adebayor has congratulated Harry Kane after the Bayern Munich striker won the 2026 Ballon d’Or in London on Monday night.

Adebayor was among the first to send a public message to Kane following the England captain’s success, using social media to celebrate the achievement of his former teammate.

“Congratulations Harry Kane. Well deserved ,” Adebayor wrote in an Instagram story.

The two players shared the pitch during their time at Tottenham between 2013 and 2015, making 20 appearances together for the Premier League club.

Their time together came during different stages of their careers. Adebayor was already an established member of the Tottenham first team, while Kane was still working to secure a regular starting position.

Kane was 20 years old during the 2013/14 season and frequently moved between the starting line-up and the substitutes’ bench as he sought to establish himself in the team.

Adebayor, a former captain of the Togo national team, had already built considerable experience at the highest level of European football by the time the pair became teammates. His message to Kane follows the striker’s latest individual achievement.

Kane’s Ballon d’Or victory marks a significant moment in his career, with the award recognising his place among football’s leading players. His former Tottenham teammate was quick to acknowledge the achievement, offering a brief but clear message of congratulations.

The connection between the two players dates back to their time in north London, when Kane was still developing his career and Adebayor was an experienced forward in the Tottenham squad.

Although their partnership at Spurs lasted only two seasons, they made 20 appearances together between 2013 and 2015.

Adebayor’s message adds to the recognition Kane has received following his Ballon d’Or success. The former Tottenham forward chose Instagram to congratulate the Bayern Munich striker, describing the achievement as well deserved.
