Head coach of Egypt Hossam Hassan says his outfit will fight to secure victory against Nigeria in the third-place fixture of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Pharaohs will now battle it out with the Super Eagles in the third-place match, scheduled for Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
Having missed out on the ultimate, Hossam Hassan insists his outfit will fight for the bronze medal against Nigeria.
“We seek to benefit from the Nigeria match morally and achieve victory, and at the same time prepare strongly. The Nigerian team was close to being in the final match like us.”
“Our last preparatory match before leaving Cairo was a friendly against Nigeria, which was good preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations. Now we finish the tournament just as we started it with the match against Nigeria, and we will fight in the Nigeria match. The Egyptian national team always plays to win and achieve top positions.”
Egypt are the record holders of the Africa Cup of Nations (7 trophies), with their last success coming in 2010 against Ghana.
