Celebrations after Morocco’s qualification for the AFCON final were overshadowed by a painful incident, as a Moroccan fan who had travelled from Burgundy in France suffered a broken collarbone during a crowd surge following Youssef En-Nesyri’s winning penalty against Nigeria.
Medical teams intervened immediately in the stands at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, stabilising his shoulder before transferring him to the stadium clinic for further treatment.
While the supporter was being treated, he received an unexpected visit from Atlas Lions forward Eliesse Ben Seghir, the Bayer Leverkusen player who had come to thank the medical staff working at the match. In a touching gesture, Eliesse Ben Seghir stopped to check on the injured fan and even offered him his coat as a sign of solidarity and encouragement, leaving a strong emotional impact on the supporter.
The fan expressed his gratitude and reaffirmed his unwavering support for the national team ahead of the final.
According to Akhbarona, the medical staff confirmed that he was able to leave the clinic despite his injury and plans to follow Sunday’s final, hoping to witness a historic title for the Atlas Lions and to see Ben Seghir and his teammates crowned African champions.
