Karim Benzema’s future at Al-Ittihad appears to be tilting toward continuity rather than departure, with the Saudi Pro League club increasingly confident that their marquee forward is eager to extend his stay.
With the former Real Madrid captain now entering the final six months of his current contract, speculation over a possible return to Europe has gathered pace, but senior figures at the club have moved to project calm and clarity.
Al-Ittihad sporting director Ramon Planes has publicly underlined the club’s belief that Benzema remains fully invested in the project, stressing that the striker sees long-term value in what is being built in Jeddah.
The French international of Algerian descent, who joined the club amid global fanfare, is understood to be comfortable both on and off the pitch and aligned with the club’s sporting ambitions.
Behind the scenes, Al-Ittihad have accelerated talks aimed at securing Benzema’s future beyond the current campaign.
Negotiations over a contract renewal are reported to be progressing, with the club tabling a proposed two-year extension that would keep the veteran forward at the heart of their plans until at least 2027.
While no agreement has yet been signed, there is growing optimism that common ground will be found.
Benzema himself is believed to be open to continuing the partnership, provided the terms reflect his value and ambitions. That stance has encouraged club officials, who see the 2023 Ballon d’Or winner as both a sporting leader and a symbol of the league’s continued growth.
On the field, Benzema has continued to justify that faith. Despite his age, the 38-year-old has delivered consistently, scoring 15 goals in 17 appearances across all competitions this season.
