Al Ahly arrive in Barcelona ahead of Joan Gamper Cup clash

Al Ahly’s first-team football delegation has arrived in Barcelona as preparations continue for the highly anticipated friendly against Spanish giants FC Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Cup.

The Egyptian giants travelled to Barcelona on Monday from Montagna, where they had been holding their training camp ahead of the prestigious encounter.

Al Ahly are scheduled to face Barcelona on Wednesday, August 19, at Spotify Camp Nou, with the match set to bring their current pre-season camp in Spain to a close.

The Red Devils have already played two friendly matches during their preparations in Spain, facing Badalona and Europa.

Al Ahly began the friendly schedule on a positive note, securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Badalona. However, they suffered a setback in their second outing after losing 2-0 to Europa.

The clash with Barcelona will provide Al Ahly with their biggest test of the pre-season and an opportunity for the squad to gain valuable experience against one of Europe’s most prominent clubs.

The Joan Gamper Cup fixture is also expected to serve as an important final preparation for Al Ahly ahead of the start of their Egyptian Premier League campaign.

Following the Barcelona encounter, Al Ahly will return to Cairo to continue preparations for the new domestic season.

The club will begin their Egyptian Premier League campaign on August 23, when they face El Sharqia Enppi in the opening round of the competition.

With the Barcelona match coming just days before their league opener, Al Ahly’s technical staff will be hoping to use the prestigious fixture to assess the squad and fine-tune preparations for the competitive season ahead.
