Nigeria international Akor Adams has been granted permission to leave the Super Eagles camp to attend to his mother, who has been hospitalized.

Adams’ mother was admitted to the hospital on Monday, January 5, 2026, but opted to play the round of 16 clash against Mozambique.

The attacker, who plies his trade for Sevilla in Spain played an instrumental role as his outfit cruised to a resounding 4-0 win over the Mambas, securing them a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, being held in Morocco.

Adams registered the fourth goal of the match in the 75th minute, as Nigeria run riot of Mozambique in the continental showpiece.

The forward has made four appearances in the Africa Cup of Nations so far, scoring one goal and registering two assists across the period.

Having grabbed quarterfinals qualification, the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation has given Adams permission to visit him mother at the hospital before the last 8 fixture this weekend.

Meanwhile, the enterprising attacker is expected to rejoin his teammates in camp before the quarterfinals clash.

Nigeria qualified for the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations to face the winner of the match between Algeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
