Zambia coach Moses Sichone has lamented over the performance of the referee following their heavy defeat against Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Chipolopolo succumbed to a humiliating 3-0 defeat to the Atlas Lions in their final Group A clash, held at Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Speaking after the match, Moses Sichone criticized the performance of the referee, raising concerns about Ayoub El Kaabi’s overhead kick strike.
“I am not satisfied with the way the referee managed our match against Morocco,” Sessoun told reporters. “He gave yellow cards to many of our players, and I believe Ayoub El Kaabi’s goal came from an offside position. This does not justify the loss, but what happened was clear to everyone.”
“Being eliminated from the tournament is painful, but nothing can be changed now.”
Having won their group, the Atlas Lions will remain in the capital of Morocco for the round of 16
Morocco secured its promotion comfortably, while Zambia, which had a disappointing tournament, secured its exit in fourth place, with two points from two draws against Mali and Comoros.
No third team will qualify from this group, as Comoros have already been eliminated with the same points tally.
Mali qualified in second place with 3 points, repeating what Egypt did in the previous edition.
