Egypt forward Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet says his outfit ultimate objective is to secure the 2025 Africa cup of Nations title in Morocco.
The Pharaohs, who are seeking for their eight Africa Cup of Nations title has already booked a place in the last 16 following their impressive run at the tournament.
Egypt defeated Zimbabwe in their opening game at the tournament, before narrowly securing victory against South Africa, thanks to Mohammed Salah’s strike from the spot.
As the team gears up for their final group game against Angola, Trezeguet has insists the sides sole objective at the Africa Cup of Nations is to lift the trophy.
He stressed the Pharaohs will approach the Angola fixture with the same winning mentality as they seeks for a 100 percent run.
At the pre-match press conference on Sunday, the winger warned that the third-round clash would be far from straightforward, underlining Egypt’s respect for all opponents and insistence on competing only to win.
The 29-year-old highlighted the depth of experience within the squad, saying Egypt consistently produces players capable of carrying responsibility. He added that he was fully ready to execute the coaching staff’s instructions, wherever required on the pitch and whenever called upon.
Egypt, currently camped in Morocco, are targeting nothing less than continental success, Trezeguet said, describing the mission as winning the title and “raising Egypt’s name high among African nations”.
Egypt have already secured qualification for the round of 16 from Group B after back-to-back wins over Zimbabwe and South Africa. Victory over Angola would complete a perfect group campaign as the seven-time champions continue their pursuit of another Africa Cup of Nations crown.
