Eduardo Camavinga has returned to his country of birth during the La Liga winter break, using his time in Angola to roll out a series of philanthropic and development-focused initiatives.

The Real Madrid midfielder is spending several days in the country with his family, combining a personal visit with a structured programme aimed at youth development, education and long-term investment in grassroots football.

Central to Camavinga’s visit is a strong emphasis on giving back. The 23-year-old has been hosted by Angola’s Minister of Youth and Sports as part of engagements that underline the symbolic and practical importance of his presence.

Discussions have centred on youth empowerment through sport, with Camavinga positioning himself as an active partner rather than a distant ambassador.

One of the key outcomes of the visit is the launch of a project to build a football academy, designed to provide structured training and educational support for young players in Angola.

Beyond football, Camavinga is also funding the construction of a public school for children, a project aimed at expanding access to education in underserved communities.

Born in the small town of Miconje, Camavinga left Angola at a young age and completed his football education in France, progressing through every level of Stade Rennais’ academy before establishing himself at the highest level.

Although he ultimately chose to represent France internationally, his connection to Angola has remained strong. That bond was evident on his arrival, when journalists sought his views on the national team’s prospects at the Africa Cup of Nations, a tournament he continues to follow closely.

During his stay in Luanda, Camavinga shared images from a building overlooking the city, where a football pitch bearing his name could soon be inaugurated.

According to Angolan media reports, the visit also coincides with the Christmas period and includes further philanthropic activities alongside inspections of his planned academy.
