Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah is optimistic about his team’s chances of advancing from their group at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Since taking the reins, Appiah has guided the Falcons of Jediane through a period of notable improvement, instilling belief, discipline, and a renewed sense of purpose across the squad.
As Sudan gear up for their opening match against Algeria at Stade Moulay Hassan, the focus is on making a strong impact and setting a new benchmark in the nation’s football history.
In an interview with CAFOnline, Appiah outlined the team’s ambitions and the determination driving his players.
“Sudan is well prepared for the competition, and we hope to present ourselves in the best possible way during the finals,” he said.
Assessing their group, which also features Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso, the former Ghana coach expressed confidence in his team’s prospects.
“We are in a strong group with Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Burkina Faso. Sudan is also a good team, and I am confident that we will progress beyond the group stage in this tournament.”
The Falcons arrive at AFCON on the back of their participation in the 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar, looking to carry that momentum into the continental showcase.
