Ceramica Cleopatra needed extra time to overcome a tough Abu Qir Fertilizers side 2–0 on Tuesday in the Egypt Cup round of 32 at Al Mokawloon Al Arab Stadium.
The second-division visitors held out bravely for 90 minutes, keeping the score goalless and dragging the tie into extra time.
The turning point came in the 101st minute when Abu Qir midfielder Adham Ahmed was sent off, leaving his team with ten men at a crucial stage.
Ceramica finally broke the deadlock through Ayman Saad Moka in the 108th minute, easing some of the pressure after a tense, physical contest. Just three minutes later, Nigerian forward Sodiq Igola struck a second goal in the 111th minute to kill off any hopes of an Abu Qir comeback and firmly secure qualification.
With this hard-fought win, Ceramica Cleopatra, coached by Ali Maher, booked their place in the last 16, where they will face the winner of Zamalek vs Baladeyet El Mahalla.
The draw has already produced four confirmed ties: National Bank of Egypt vs ENPPI, El Gouna vs Pyramids, Talaea El Gaish vs Kahraba Ismailia, and Haras El Hodood vs Smouha.
