Nigeria’s Super Eagles have ended 2025 ranked 38th in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings, retaining the same position from the previous update despite a disappointing year that saw them fail to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The latest rankings, published on Monday, confirm that Nigeria’s standing remains unchanged from November, when the team accumulated 1,502 points. The lack of movement has been attributed to the absence of competitive international fixtures since the last update.
Currently in Morocco for the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the Super Eagles sit behind several African rivals on the global stage. Morocco continue to lead the continent, holding the 11th position worldwide, while Senegal are ranked 19th. Nigeria’s 38th-place finish leaves them behind Algeria and Egypt, who occupy 34th and 35th positions, respectively.
Other African nations also feature prominently within the continent’s top ten, with Tunisia ranked 41st globally. Côte d’Ivoire follow closely in 42nd place, while Mali, DR Congo and Cameroon are placed 53rd, 56th and 57th respectively.
At the summit of the global rankings, Spain remain the world’s top-ranked national team after reclaiming first place from Argentina in September 2025. France occupy third position, completing the podium, while England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Croatia continue to make up the rest of the global top ten.
