Omar Marmoush on the radar of Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly working on deals to bring Manchester City forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush to North London as new head coach Roberto De Zerbi looks to reshape his attacking options.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Spurs want to sign both players as De Zerbi pushes to add greater depth and competition to his forward line. The Italian coach is understood to be keen on the Manchester City pair, with Tottenham exploring the possibility of securing deals for two players whose futures at the Etihad could be affected by their desire for more regular playing time.

Marmoush has been on Tottenham’s radar for some time. As KingFut previously reported in June, the north London club had already registered an interest in the Egypt international, who is seeking a more prominent role after struggling to establish himself as an undisputed starter at City.

The forward’s situation became more significant in July when reports emerged that he intended to seek clarity from new City head coach Enzo Maresca over his role and prospects for the coming season.

Marmoush gives Spurs encouragement

Marmoush, however, has made a promising start to life under Maresca and could yet force his way into the Italian’s plans.

The Egyptian was on target twice in City’s 3-1 pre-season victory over Atletico Madrid, providing an early indication of his attacking threat ahead of the new campaign. Maresca has also praised the developing understanding between Marmoush and fellow forward Antoine Semenyo.

That form could make a potential Tottenham move difficult, particularly if Maresca views Marmoush as an important part of his attacking plans. Nevertheless, his need for consistent minutes remains an important factor as Spurs assess whether they can tempt him away from Manchester.

Savinho remains long-term Spurs target

Tottenham’s interest in Savinho is even more established.

The club held discussions with City over the Brazilian winger last summer but could not agree a transfer fee before he committed his future to the Premier League champions. Spurs subsequently maintained their interest and are now exploring another opportunity to bring the 22-year-old to North London.

Savinho’s situation mirrors Marmoush’s in one crucial respect. The Brazil international is also looking for more consistent opportunities, with competition for attacking places at City intensifying.

He faces a battle for minutes alongside Semenyo, Jérémy Doku and Rayan Cherki, leaving his position in Maresca’s preferred starting XI far from guaranteed.

City face difficult decision

Savinho extended his City contract in October 2025, committing himself to the club until 2031. He made 36 appearances last season, scoring four goals, after arriving from Troyes in July 2024 following an impressive campaign with Girona.

His first season in Manchester produced three goals and 13 assists, underlining the creative qualities that have made him attractive to Tottenham.

For Spurs, pursuing both players would represent an ambitious attempt to strengthen their attack with proven Premier League talent while also exploiting uncertainty over their availability.

De Zerbi’s priority is understood to be improving Tottenham’s attacking options, and Savinho and Marmoush fit that profile. However, City’s willingness to sanction either departure could ultimately determine whether Spurs can turn their interest into concrete deals.
