Christantus Uche undergoes successful knee surgery
Getafe midfielder Christantus Uche has undergone successful knee surgery in Lyon after suffering a serious injury during a pre-season match against AS Monaco on August 6.
The Nigerian striker was injured following a challenge from Monaco defender Mawissa and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
Uche had only recently returned to Getafe after spending time on loan at Crystal Palace, making the setback particularly frustrating. Although the injury is significant, the club confirmed that the operation was completed without complications and according to plan.
Getafe said: “Christantus Uche has undergone successful surgery in Lyon as a result of the serious knee injury he suffered in the match against AS Monaco on August 6.”
The club added: “The operation was carried out normally and as scheduled, under the supervision of Dr Christofer Oyola, head of Getafe’s medical department, and Alvaro Garcia Zudaire, head of the club’s physiotherapy services. From today, the player begins his rehabilitation process, with the club’s support.”
Getafe also promised to provide every resource needed for Uche’s recovery and sent him encouragement on behalf of the entire club community.
The midfielder now faces a lengthy rehabilitation programme, supported by his teammates, coaches and supporters. His priority will be to regain full fitness before beginning the next stage of his career.
