Thierry Henry praises Hugo Ekitike as Liverpool’s standout signing
Liverpool’s season has been turbulent, but summer arrival Hugo Ekitike has emerged as a bright spot in an otherwise difficult campaign at Anfield.
While several of Arne Slot’s new recruits are still struggling to adapt, the French forward has quickly won admirers with his impact and attitude.
Speaking about Liverpool’s transfers, Thierry Henry picked out Ekitike as the club’s best signing so far. “I’ll go with Hugo Ekitike, because at the beginning, he had to prove that he could be at Liverpool, and he did,” Henry said, noting how the striker delivered even as the team’s form dipped. He added that Ekitike adapted faster than expected, kept working hard after being dropped to the bench, and continued scoring when recalled, something Henry believes “puts him up there” among the side’s key players.
Ekitike has played 15 games in the 2025/26 Premier League, scoring seven goals and providing one assist, underlining his growing importance in Liverpool’s attack. His resilience, maturity and end product have made him one of the few consistent positives in a challenging season for the club.
