AFCON 2025: Egypt Sports Minister Dr. Ashraf Sobhi inspires players ahead of start of tournament

Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, met with the Egyptian national team and head coach Hossam Hassan ahead of their departure to Morocco for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

During the meeting, Sobhi reviewed the team’s preparations and praised their recent 2-1 victory over Nigeria, highlighting their impressive performance in the friendly held at Cairo Stadium.

He expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to uphold Egypt’s proud footballing legacy at the tournament.

The minister urged players to maintain discipline, demonstrate a strong fighting spirit, and give their utmost effort as they compete for the AFCON title, while noting the unwavering support of Egyptian fans.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Football Association President Engineer Hani Abu Rida traveled to Cairo Airport en route to Qatar for FIFA meetings before joining the national team in Morocco.

Egypt will compete in Group B, facing Angola, South Africa, and Zimbabwe in the group stage.
