Amine Harit says he is ready to use his experience to guide Marseille’s younger players and adapt to the demands of the coach, even when that means playing outside his preferred position.

The Morocco international explained that his responsibilities within the squad have changed as he takes on a greater role in supporting less experienced team-mates.

His comments came after Marseille secured a 2-0 victory over Troyes in the sixth round of the French league, a match in which Harit opened the scoring in the second half.

The midfielder said his familiarity with French football and his understanding of Marseille’s environment had become important assets as he sought to help the team navigate the challenges of the season.

“I have a different role thanks to my experience. We have a group that includes a large number of young players, and I am trying to offer my experience and knowledge of the league and of Marseille as well.”

Harit’s remarks underline his willingness to contribute beyond his performances on the pitch, with the Moroccan recognising the importance of helping younger players settle into the demands of playing for one of France’s leading clubs.

Harit ready to take responsibility at Marseille

The Moroccan international said his experience of different situations in football had helped him understand the need to remain flexible, particularly during a season in which the team could face difficulties.

According to Harit, the coach has already explained that the campaign will not be straightforward and has made clear that the player will have an important part to play.

“I have experienced different circumstances, but we have to deal with the situation as it is. The coach explained to me that the season will not be easy, and that I will play an important role.”

The comments suggest that Harit understands the expectations placed on him as Marseille seek to maintain their level of performance.

His role now involves using the lessons learned throughout his career to support a squad that includes a significant number of younger players.

For Harit, experience is not simply about individual performances.

It also means sharing knowledge, helping team-mates adjust to the demands of the league and contributing to the atmosphere within the dressing room.

His willingness to accept those responsibilities reflects an approach centred on the collective needs of the team rather than personal preferences.

Moroccan international puts the team before his preferred position

Harit also addressed his deployment on the right wing, a position that is not his preferred role.

Rather than making his personal preference an obstacle, the Marseille player stressed that footballers must be prepared to adapt when the team requires them to perform in different areas of the pitch.

“One must know how to put ego aside,” Harit said.

The statement captures his approach to the tactical demands placed on him.

Although he may favour another position, the Moroccan international indicated that the team’s needs must take priority over individual comfort.

His comments also point to the importance of flexibility within a squad, particularly when a coach expects players to fulfil different responsibilities depending on the circumstances of a match.

Harit’s willingness to operate on the right wing could therefore form part of his broader contribution to Marseille, as he combines his experience with an acceptance of the role required from him.

Harit helps Marseille secure victory over Troyes

Harit’s words followed an important result for Marseille, who defeated Troyes 2-0 away from home on Sunday in the sixth round of the French Football League.

The Moroccan international played a decisive part in the victory, opening the scoring in the second half to put the southern French side ahead.

Marseille went on to complete the 2-0 win, giving the team a positive result while Harit reflected on his changing responsibilities within the squad.

His goal demonstrated his contribution on the pitch, while his post-match comments highlighted the wider role he hopes to fulfil during the campaign.

With a number of young players in the group, Harit believes his knowledge of French football and experience of Marseille can help his team-mates as they face the demands of the season.

His message was straightforward: personal preferences must sometimes take a back seat when the team’s interests are at stake.

By embracing a different role and accepting the possibility of playing in unfamiliar positions, Harit has indicated that he is prepared to contribute wherever Marseille need him.

His focus remains on helping the squad, sharing his experience and meeting the expectations placed on him by the coach.
