Senegal national team begins final sprint to AFCON with flag presentation ceremony

Senegal’s preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations accelerate this week as the national team approaches the final phase before departure for Morocco.

The 28-man squad, which coach Pape Thiaw will announce on Saturday, will officially launch the training camp and signal the start of an intensive preparation period.

Players will begin arriving at the camp early next week, each joining as soon as their schedules allow, initiating the final push ahead of the tournament.

A highly symbolic event, the national flag presentation ceremony takes place on Wednesday, 18 December.

The ceremony will mark the official start of Senegal’s continental mission, serving as a moment to convey the hopes and expectations of the Senegalese people directly to the team.

Immediately following the flag ceremony, Thiaw’s squad will travel to Tangier for their training camp.

The Lions will train intensively for three days before their opening match on 23 December, with every session designed to build cohesion, sharpen tactical awareness, and optimise player readiness.

The compressed schedule demands strict discipline, precise workload management, and meticulous coordination from the coaching staff.

Thiaw and his technical team will focus on establishing core strategies and team automatisms rapidly to ensure the Lions perform at peak level from the first whistle.

The Senegalese squad enters this critical period with determination, fully aware that the coming days will set the tone for their AFCON campaign.
