Carney Chukwuemeka opens up on support from Niklas Süle at Dortmund
England midfielder of Nigerian descent Carney Chukwuemeka has disclosed that German defender Niklas Süle has helped him to settle in well at Borussia Dortmund.
Chukwuemeka made a permanent switch to the club last summer, and despite still waiting for his first full 90-minute outing, he already feels at home.
After signing a five-year deal worth €20 million, he expressed satisfaction with his new chapter, saying: “It feels really good to now be a permanent part of BVB.”
A big factor behind his comfort has been the influence of Süle, whom he praised during the club’s YouTube series Erstma ‘n Käffken (“First a Coffee”).
“It might not look like it, but he helps me a lot,” Chukwuemeka noted.
He described the 30-year-old centre-back as a “great support,” adding that Süle’s experience and personality bring him joy around the club.
“Obviously, he’s been in the business for a while. He’s simply someone who always makes me smile,” he said.
Chukwuemeka even sees Süle as the perfect Santa Claus figure within the squad and revealed that he picked him as his Secret Santa choice for the festive season.
“I’d say Niki,” he added with a smile.
