Mohamed Zongo chooses Chelsea pathway as BlueCo maps out development plan for Burkinabe talent

Mohamed Zongo begins a major new chapter in his young career after choosing a development pathway designed by the BlueCo consortium.

The Burkina Faso U17 midfielder commits to a long-term project that guides him first to Strasbourg and later to Chelsea, depending on his progress.

Chelsea and Strasbourg now coordinate his growth under a joint plan. The 16-year-old cannot sign for Strasbourg until he turns 18, but he will spend training periods at the club every three months.

Chelsea’s staff will track his evolution closely, with the intention of integrating him into the Blues setup once he reaches the required level.

Zongo built a strong reputation during the U17 World Cup, where he helped Burkina Faso reach the quarterfinals.

He delivered a standout performance in the round of 16, scoring the decisive goal against Germany.

His campaign included two goals and three assists, which attracted attention from scouts across Europe.

Clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City, and Villarreal showed interest in the midfielder.

BlueCo acted quickly and secured an agreement that places Strasbourg at the centre of his development.

The move positions him as Chelsea’s second Burkinabè signing in history, following Bertrand Traoré’s arrival in 2013.

Zongo continues his career at Sporting Football Cascades until he becomes eligible to make the move.

He now prepares for a clear professional pathway shaped by elite European structures and regular development camps in France.

The young midfielder aims to grow through this carefully planned system and earn his opportunity in Chelsea’s first team in the coming years.
