Spanish-Moroccan youngster Lamine Yamal picks Lionel Messi as the greatest of all time
Spain international of Moroccan descent Lamine Yamal has named Argentina star Lionel Messi as the greatest of all time footballer.
Messi, who currently plies his trade for Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer has enjoyed an illustrious career, winning several titles for both club and country and also scooping a record eight Ballon d’Or tittles.
In an interview with 60 Minutes, Yamal, who also have Equatorial Guinea roots picked Lionel Messi, a former Barcelona star as the greatest ever player to have graced the game.
“I believe Leo Messi is the greatest footballer of all time, but he also knows that I am a player, and I respect him a lot. If we play against each other, it will be mutual respect. He knows I’m not trying to be him, play like him, or wear the number 10 like him. I want to be myself,” Yamal said.
Messi surpassed Ferenc Puskas at the weekend, becoming the player with the most assist in football history (405). Meanwhile, the Argentina star is closing in on 900 football career goals.
