South African defender Thabo Moloisane targets 500 appearances at Stellenbosch FC
South African international Thabo Moloisane has set sights on securing 500 appearances at Stellenbosch FC after reaching a significant milestone.
The 26-year-old centre-back marked his 100th appearance for the South African outfit in their CAF Confederation Cup clash against AS Otoho.
Moloisane, a product of Mamelodi Sundowns has established himself as a key member of the Stellies since his arrival.
He joined the Cape winelands side from the defunct Maritzburg United and has become a rock in the Stellies defence that even Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos sees him as international material.
For the past two camps, Moloisane was called up for the national side even though he is yet to be a regular. And now he is part of the 55-man provisional squad called for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament next month.
“I mean, look, this is the club I really love so much. So, as long as I’m fit and the coach believes in me, I think I can reach 500 appearances,” he said. “The 100-milestone shows that when you put in the hard work, you can go far.
“Stellenbosch believed in me from the get-go when I set foot in the team. I’m very proud of what I have achieved with the club. I’m excited that I have made my 100th appearance for this wonderful team, with a win and a clean sheet.
“The shared hard work and belief we get from coach Steve Barker and the entire technical team encourage me to get better as a footballer because the motto of the club itself is more than football and improving yourself in every game.”
Stellenbosch will travel to Tanzania this week to face Singida Black Stars in the Confederation Cup.
