AS Otoho coach Sekou Seck cries over Stellenbosch FC defeat in CAF Confederation Cup
Head coach of AS Otoho Sekou Seck is saddened by his outfit narrow defeat to South African outfit Stellenbosch FC in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Congo-Brazzaville outfit succumbed to a 1-0 last minute defeat to the Stellies in their group stage opener, held at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
Angelo Cupido emerged as the hero for the South African outfit, scoring in stoppage-time to secure victory for his outfit.
Cupido, introduced in the 65th minute, settled an attritional contest in the third minute of added time (90+3) when he arrived to convert after good work from fellow substitute Godswill Enyinnaya.
The late finish sparked relief among the home support after Stellenbosch had been frustrated for long spells by the organised visitors from Congo-Brazzaville.
Following the defeat, Sekou Seck has expressed his displeasure losing their first game of the Confederation Cup campaign.
“Very, very sad for this match,” said Seck after the game.
“Because Stellenbosch, they scored us at the end of the game. We are very sad; it’s our first time to lose in this competition and we can forget about this and project our next game.”
The result places Stellenbosch on three points, behind CR Belouizdad—2-0 winners over Singida Black Stars on Saturday—at the top of Group C on goal difference.
