CAF Confederation Cup: Kaizer Chiefs coach Ben Youssef Khalid cites inexperience for Al Masry defeat
Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Ben Youssef Khalid has attributed his outfit defeat to Al Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday evening.
The Soweto giants succumbed to a 2-1 away defeat in the group stage opener against the Egyptian outfit at Suez Stadium.
Speaking after the game, Ben Youssef Khalid expressed his displeasure about the defeat, while citing inexperience for the setback.
“This was the first time that more than 80 percent of our players experienced this level of continental football,” Ben Youssef said after the match.
“It’s very different from the PSL. Here you must be more focused, more aggressive. At this level, matches are decided by very small details. If you lose concentration for even one second, you can concede.”
“Looking at our performance, we deserved a minimum of a draw,” he explained. “But we have to learn from our mistakes. We’ll analyse the game, look at the positives and the negatives, and continue to work.”
Kaizer Chiefs will play host to Zamalek at Peter Mokaba Stadium in their second group match of the Confederations Cup.
