Al Ahly is facing several new injury concerns as they prepare to meet Morocco’s FAR Rabat in the second round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
Key player Ahmed Zizo Mostafa played 80 minutes against JS Kabylie while battling pain and is set to undergo tests with the club doctor for further evaluation.
Zizo praised how well the team has adapted to Danish manager Jess Thorup’s tactics, crediting improved skills and fitness for their positive start. He acknowledged the challenge of the group, calling it one of the hardest in this year’s Champions League, but stressed the team’s determination to advance.
Big questions remain around the fitness of goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, who left the previous match with pain in his left groin muscle. Medical scans will determine if he’s fit for the upcoming encounter. Defenders Ashraf Dari and Mohamed Abdallah, as well as winger Hussein El Shahat, are also sidelined and following different recovery plans.
Al Ahly’s coach Thorup remains confident, expressing gratitude for the team’s collective focus and emphasizing the need for readiness as they continue their continental quest.
