‘He’s dangerous and unpredictable’ – Karl Etta Eyong tipped by Cameroon boss for Barcelona move
Cameroon striker Karl Etta Eyong has been tipped for a potential move to Barcelona, with national team coach Marc Brys confident in his rising star.
Eyong has quickly caught the eye of Europe’s elite since joining Levante in August, showcasing the talent that earned him a senior Indomitable Lions call-up.
The 22-year-old, under contract until 2029 with a €30 million release clause, is considered a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski at Barca once the Pole’s contract expires next summer.
“I think with his potential, yes (he can play for Barcelona). There’s always room for a new player in a team if they have the qualities,” Brys said.
Brys drew parallels with Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, highlighting how young players can quickly become key figures.
“I think with his potential, yes (he can play for Barcelona). There’s always room for a new player in a team if they have the qualities.
“Look at Lamine Yamal: a year ago nobody thought he’d play for the first team, and now he’s a key player.
“Etta also has that potential. He’s dangerous, unpredictable, he can surprise anyone. And that’s valuable for any big team.”
Eyong has demonstrated a knack for creating chances, taking on defenders, and producing moments of brilliance despite Levante struggling near the bottom of La Liga.
His versatility and work rate make him attractive to top European clubs.
While Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Manchester United have monitored his rise, Levante insist he will remain this season to help avoid relegation.
Contract clauses with Villarreal may complicate any potential transfer negotiations.
Brys emphasized Eyong’s attitude and professionalism, noting that the striker’s maturity on and off the pitch complements his raw talent.
Barcelona see more than just a replacement in Eyong; his dynamism, unpredictability, and capacity to influence games make him a prospect capable of thriving in a top-tier squad.
