Racing Ferrol bring in Mali-Burkina Faso midfielder Sekou Djanbou on a free transfer

Mali and Burkina Faso midfielder Sekou Djanbou has joined Racing Ferrol from Real Murcia on a free transfer, adding a 21-year-old central midfielder to the club’s squad for the new season.

Djanbou has signed a contract with Racing Ferrol that runs until 30 June 2027. The move, completed on 14 August 2026, keeps him in Spain’s Primera Federacion but takes him from Group II to Group I.

The left-footed midfielder made 23 appearances in the Primera Federacion during the 2025-26 campaign, playing 1,355 minutes. His arrival gives Racing Ferrol a player with recent experience of the division and a background in central midfield.

Djanbou spent the previous season with Real Murcia after joining the club from CD Leganes B in August 2025 for a fee of €200,000. His time at Murcia followed a spell in the Czech Republic with MFK Vyskov, where he played on loan from Leganes B during the 2024-25 season before returning to Spain.

He began his senior pathway with Leganes B after moving from Leganes’ under-19 side in July 2023. Before that, he had played for Elite Falcons and Burkina F. Onze, having started his early club career with Rahimo FC.

Born on 13 September 2004, Djanbou is 1.83m tall and holds Malian and Burkinabe nationality. He joins Racing Ferrol as his latest club move in a career that has taken him from Burkina Faso into Spanish and Czech football.

The transfer also marks a change of club without a reported fee, with Djanbou leaving Real Murcia after one season and committing his immediate future to Racing Ferrol. His contract at the Galician club is in place through June 2027.
