Standard Liege bolster midfield with Cameroon-Switzerland international Ryan Fosso

Ryan Fosso, the Cameroon-Switzerland midfielder, has joined Standard Liege from Sturm Graz for €950,000.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has signed a contract with the Belgian club running until 30 June 2029. Fosso makes the move after less than a year with Austrian side Sturm Graz, who had signed him from Fortuna Sittard in January for €900,000.

Born in Lugano, Switzerland, Fosso is eligible to represent both Cameroon and Switzerland. He stands 1.83m tall and is right-footed, with his main position listed as defensive midfield.

Fosso began the 2026-27 campaign with Sturm Graz before completing his switch to Standard Liege on 14 August. He featured in Champions League qualifying, the Austrian Bundesliga and the OFB-Cup, scoring once in the cup.

His goal came in a full appearance in the OFB-Cup, while he also played in Sturm Graz’s European qualifying campaign and made a Bundesliga appearance. The move to Standard Liege follows a period in which his market value reached €2m.

Fosso joined Sturm Graz after one season at Fortuna Sittard. He had moved to the Dutch club from FC Vaduz in July 2024 on a free transfer, having spent two seasons with the Liechtenstein side.

During his time at FC Vaduz, Fosso won the Liechtenstein Cup twice, in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. He had previously developed in Switzerland with BSC Young Boys, progressing through the club’s youth system after spells with Fribourg Youth and Gruyere Youth.

His honours also include a Swiss Under-18 championship won with BSC Young Boys Under-18 in the 2018-19 season.

Standard Liege have now secured Fosso’s services on a deal that keeps him at the club until the end of June 2029.
