Cameroon youngster Karl Etta Eyong confident ahead of crucial World Cup playoff

Fast-rising Cameroonian forward Karl Etta Eyong has tipped his outfit to secure intercontinental playoff spot ahead of Nigeria, DR Congo and Gabon.

The African playoff structure sees Cameroon face DR Congo on Thursday, November 13, while Nigeria takes on Gabon at the Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat. The winners will compete on November 16 for a spot in the intercontinental playoffs.

Cameroon and Nigeria will clash in a decisive final to determine who advances to the final playoff if both teams are able to secure victories in their semifinals games.

Ahead of the playoff, Eyong, who plies his trade for Villarreal has downplayed Nigeria threat, while tipping Cameroon to secure the intercontinental playoff spot, scheduled for March 2026.

“For me the most dangerous, Nigeria was before but I am no more afraid… With the confidence of the team, we can take the three teams” he told Sporty TV.

“Even though we have to play three matches against them to qualify, we are going to win the three games… I think we have the capacity and ability to win those games that are coming.”

Eyong has been in fine form this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 12 league appearances.

He is expected to play a crucial for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the much-anticipated playoff.

If both sides win their semifinals, Nigeria and Cameroon will clash in a decisive final to determine who advances to the next stage of the World Cup qualifiers.
