Justin Njinmah ruled out of Werder Bremen’s Mainz clash

Justin Njinmah will miss Werder Bremen’s Bundesliga away fixture against Mainz 05 on Saturday despite making progress in his recovery from a thigh muscle injury.

The 25-year-old forward has been sidelined since sustaining the injury in early September. Although he returned to partial team training on Tuesday, he has not yet recovered sufficiently to be considered for selection.

Njinmah’s absence was confirmed ahead of Saturday’s encounter, with Werder continuing to take a cautious approach to his rehabilitation.

The attacker’s return to training represents an encouraging development after several weeks on the sidelines. He had previously been working individually on the pitch as he gradually rebuilt his fitness following the serious injury.

However, his participation in only portions of Tuesday’s session means he still needs time to increase his workload before returning to competitive action.

Werder Bremen have not provided a definitive date for Njinmah’s comeback. His availability for upcoming fixtures will depend on how he responds to the next stages of his recovery.

The forward’s eventual return would provide an additional attacking option for head coach Daniel Thioune as Bremen navigate a demanding run of Bundesliga and cup fixtures.

For now, the club’s priority remains ensuring that Njinmah regains full fitness without risking another setback. His progress in training offers hope, but he will have to wait longer before making his return to the matchday squad.
