Zamalek escalates complaint against Ahmed Mostafa Zizo

Zamalek has intensified its actions against Al Ahly’s Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, after the player refused to shake hands with Zamalek’s Vice President Hesham Nasr during the Egyptian Super Cup award ceremony.

Having already filed a formal complaint to the Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee, Zamalek has now sent a direct letter to the association’s president, Hani Abu Rida, demanding disciplinary action.

The club claims Zizo deliberately insulted Zamalek’s institution and that such conduct is unacceptable within Egyptian football. Zamalek’s letter differed from the formal complaint by addressing the responsibility of the association’s top official as an eyewitness, calling for immediate action to protect the reputation of Egyptian sports.

Vice President Nasr commented, “International protocols have clear procedures for award ceremonies. If not respected, there should be penalties. Is the association equipped to punish such behavior?” He also expressed personal disappointment with Al Ahly’s Khaled Mortagy, criticizing his reaction during the ceremony. Nasr stated, “I intended to greet every player, but Zizo’s strange demeanor deterred me.”

Zamalek emphasized the need for discipline and referenced similar incidents in sports, calling for fair treatment and respect within all competitions.
