Zamalek coach Abdel Raouf defends Nasser Maher and shares optimism for Super Cup final
Ahmed Abdel Raouf, Zamalek’s head coach, has spoken out in support of midfielder Nasser Maher after his exclusion from Egypt’s latest national team squad.
“Nasser Maher has every right to feel disappointed at not being called up. Personally, I am also saddened by Hossam Hassan’s decision, with all due respect to him,” Abdelraouf said at the pre-final press conference. He emphasized, “Nasser never acted out of line, he expressed his feelings with respect. He’s truly one of the best in Egypt and has proven this in his last three games. I expect him to shine in the final.”
Abdelraouf also remarked that every player is important for Zamalek and that the team is working hard to prepare for their Super Cup derby against Al Ahly. He confirmed that final decisions on lineup and returning players, such as Juan Bezera, would be made after the last training session.
Team captain Omar Gaber added, “It’s an important match between two big clubs and we hope to deliver a performance worthy of the occasion, especially with the wonderful atmosphere here in the UAE.” The technical meeting ensured both teams’ readiness, with Zamalek aiming for glory and unity on the pitch.
