Al Ahly’s medical team has vaccinated all football staff and first-team players against hepatitis A, following medical advice prompted by midfielder Emam Ashour’s infection.

Walid Salah Al-Din, the club’s football director, said, “We coordinated vaccinations to uphold public health and ensure the team’s safety.” He emphasized that, “Medical protocols are regularly enforced to keep a healthy environment for all players.”

According to Kooora, the primary reason for mass vaccination is Ashour’s imminent return to group training after being isolated during his illness. A club source explained, “Virus A is moderately contagious, and concern rose about integrating Emam Ashour with other players.” The source added, “He will not rejoin full training until completely recovered, but vaccinations were given as a precaution.”

Meanwhile, Ashour will undergo further medical tests in 48 hours to determine his progress and timetable for a full return. Team doctor Ahmed Gaballah stated, “The latest analysis shows significant improvement.” Three players, Mohamed El-Shenawy, Karim Fouad, and Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, have also returned to training after recovering from injuries.

Al Ahly is preparing for their upcoming league fixture and a trip to compete in the Egyptian Super Cup in the UAE.
